Visit Acapulco ! What makes it so unique that it’s called Mexico’s vintage treasure ?

Acapulco blends 70s nostalgia with a lively vibe, offering a strikingly different experience from what you’d expect when traveling in Mexico.

Think of it as stepping into a 70s Miami—one of the most visited cities in the “país,” as the locals say.

This city is a blend of 70s nostalgia and vibrant energy, offering a striking contrast to what you might imagine when traveling to Mexico.

The city is still recovering from the hurricanes of 2023 and 2024. Picture this: a coastline lined with old-school high-rises stretching along the bay, giving the place its distinct retro charm. These once-thriving resorts, now either abandoned or damaged, transport you back in time. Strolling through Acapulco feels like uncovering a piece of North American tourist history, while the city’s vibrant energy keeps it alive day and night.

Walking through its streets feels like stepping back in time. You can’t help but wonder what it was like to live in one of North America’s most glamorous tourist hubs. Despite its challenges, the city brims with life from dawn to dusk.

Looking for sunshine? Amazing food? A city that’s always buzzing? Welcome to Acapulco!

This is paradise. The streets are alive with the aroma of tacos, tortas, and barbecue. Vendors are everywhere, offering anything and everything. Even if you don’t speak a word of Spanish, a simple “gracias” or “hola, qué tal” will light up their faces, even if you don’t buy anything.

Here, smiles are priceless, and the goal is to enjoy the moment.

The heartbeat of the city starts at Zócalo de Acapulco, also known as Plaza Álvarez. This vibrant square is where the city’s soul comes alive. The cathedral of Acapulco welcomes you with its morning mass, serenading the square with a peaceful hum. A short stroll away, you’ll find bustling markets.

Speaking of markets, nothing beats Mexican markets. They’re alive with noise and people, yet somehow perfectly organized. Flower vendors on one side, fresh produce on another, and meat and seafood just a few steps away. The air is filled with the spicy aroma of chilies, and you can grab one delicious dish after another.

After devouring five tacos de suadero (slow-cooked beef tacos, for non-Spanish speakers), what’s next?
A quick nap under a parasol, of course!

A short walk brings you to Acapulco bay, a stunning stretch lined with beach bars, fishermen, and the city’s signature good vibes. Lay out your towel, kick back, and soak it all in.

The beaches are the true gems of Acapulco. La Quebrada, Playa Langosta, and other stunning spots are perfect for unwinding and having fun.

Don’t forget sunscreen—“crema solar” in Spanish—you’ll thank us later.

From here, head to the Las Playas neighborhood, perched high above and overlooking the Pacific Ocean. But first, a stop at La Quebrada is a must. This iconic spot is where locals dive from dizzying heights into the sea. Feeling brave? Give it a shot—good luck!

Then, make your way to Playa Langosta, a tucked-away cove with beachside bars, restaurants, loud music, and locals relaxing all week long. Then, make your way to Playa Langosta, a tucked-away cove with beachside bars, restaurants, loud music, and locals relaxing all week long.

Las Playas and its breathtaking views.
This hilltop neighborhood offers spectacular panoramas of the Pacific and unforgettable sunsets.

Take your time wandering around Las Playas at sunset. Dip your toes in the water one last time before heading off to your next adventure. As the day winds down, grab some tacos and fresh fruit, sit back, and watch the sky light up in a dazzling display of colors. Acapulco is a city that’s hard to forget—vibrant, nostalgic, and full of life.

We enjoy a few more tacos and some fresh fruit while watching the sunset, and then it’s time to head off to our next adventure.
